2 guidesPractical guides for your next brief
About this collection

The Academy has two practical planning lessons. Each sets a goal, explains what to bring, and walks through a written example with a brief you can adapt.

Start with one product-ad brief, then develop another direction from the same facts. You'll write plans and review checklists in these exercises. The examples don't include completed videos.

1. Make your first product ad

Bring together your product facts, reference images, and the action you want viewers to take. Use them to brief a focused video, then check the product, message, audio, and export before accepting it.

You'll leave with a first-ad brief you can use and an acceptance checklist.

2. Develop six creative-angle hypotheses

Use one factual product brief to explore different reasons someone might care. Work out the audience motivation before choosing the visual treatment.

You'll leave with an angle slate that shows which ideas change the concept and which only change the look.

Inspiration, explanation, and action have different jobs

Browse Showcases for credited visual references and proposed approaches, or read the blog when you have a production question. Choose a lesson when you want to work through a planning task.

You don't need to finish the whole sequence before making something. Start with the lesson that fits the work in front of you.
